Thanks for a great Winter Performance Driving School

Postby cdods » Sun Feb 24, 2008 2:37 am

Thanks to everyone involved in putting on and volunteering for the Winter Performance Driving School. It was my first experience with an MCO event and I was complete impressed with the entire event - including the great lunch.

Now I just need to get something other than a VW so I can try left foot braking.

Thanks to Glen and his team for a fun school and to Bennett for his coaching. I've been playing with LFB and pendulum turns for awhile but I had difficulties doing them consistently. I'm pretty comfy with the LFB though the pendulum turns will take more work. After awhile I got the hang of it until fatigue and trying too hard set in. As such I made the track wider in spots [fplant]

I went poking around online about the LFB problem with VW TDIs. The throttle cutoff while braking thing can be disabled!

Cheers,
Chris

A big thank-you to Glen and his team of instructors and workers who made the Advanced WDS such a wonderful learning experience! [tbounce]

I don't think I've every worked so hard while going so slowly . . . ! The track was so polished and icy that on the way home on the back roads, I couldn't believe how grippy the snow was.

Indeed it was a fantastic experience. Yes,thank you to everyone who made it such a memorable time: the volunteers, the instructors, Glen, and of course, all the other drivers who had to wait, while I had to be pushed out of the snowbanks on a regular basis! Well it kept them from going too fast into the corners, which was a big mistake by the end of the day, so I was doing everyone a favour, right?

Now, what's a good, cheap body shop? Just kidding, winter's not over yet!

+1 to all the thank yous, Mister Jim Morrow was an EXCELLENT instructor, very patient even when I was getting tired at the end of the day and kept making the same mistake (DON'T LIFT!!! ;) ) and Terry was fantastic helping me get that tire re-seated and back on the car, couldn't have done that without his help! And all the other volunteers, just wow guys, just wow, great work everyone!

So there were lots of camera snapping away during the day, any pics to be seen online?

Thanks again everyone

One more BIG THANKS on top of the others: you all deserve it. Thanks to Bennet for the awsome ride in his car and the patience he showed all day long.
Although I could never get the LFB to work on the Jetta when practicing on the track, when I tried it Sunday on the access road, after most everyone had left, there was more snow covering the ice and it went relatively well. So I guess some brake bias has to be readjusted on that car.

Thanks again and big thumbs up [thumbup]

Sorry to resurrect a thread, but does anyone have pics of the event, especially of a red Mk2 Golf on the track? :)

Thanks,
Chris

Anybody know how to cantact Glen ?

Wolfhard told me he copied all the pics he took at the event to Glen's PC. I sent Glen a email but never heard back from him.

If his spam filter is anything like mine he might never have seen the message.

I don't recall if others were taking pics.
