At the "New Year" Solo 2 meeting I introduced myself as director and spoke to our high-level goals for the 2011 season. I'd like to publicly share my thoughts for anyone that missed the meeting.
High-Level Goals:
-If it ain't broke, don't fix it
-Grassroots, grassroots, grassroots
-Our ears and minds are open
-Fun and safe for all
Satements about the 2011 season:
-All Participants will find smoothly-run, well coordinated events
-Newbies will be welcomed into a knowledgable, accomodating, learning-oriented atmosphere--they will get hooked, and keep coming back for more!
-'Casuals' will continue to fill out numbers with a friendly culture
-Competitors will be rewarded for improved skills and car setup
-The club will be impressed with a continued positive cash flow and 'graduates' who move on to new interests in Rally, road racing, ice racing, marshalling, solo sprint and beyond
-All people interested in the series will know of key contact personel in a series of defined roles
-We will continue to offer some 'spice and innovation'...staying fresh and interesting
In short, we will be building upon all the great work thus far.
I believe an important ingredient to our continued success will be key volunteers fulfilling "roles" in specific areas of the series. This already exists, and I will expand upon it.
