Logitech G27

I like the LED shift lights. Though I'll be content with my Momo for a while.

When the momo gives it up get another one. G25's are not worth the money you pay. And bling lights? They should have put mapping buttons instead like the momo. Most people don't use the shifter pod.

Had a Momo (it was the black one, not the red -- now belongs to Luker's little one) and I currently have a G25, which I found for $150 new.

If the Momo is "worth" $100, then in my book the G25, is "worth" at least $200, but that's just my opinion and shouldn't be taken as a statement of irrefutable fact.

There's nothing really wrong with the G25 its just not worth the money imo. Its heavier which is nice and better built quality but there's no map buttons on the wheel which I really like and I don't fiddle with the 360 degree bit. I drive with my steering ratio at about 18 degrees and leave it like that.
If its dropped to $150 its worth a look but you can get momos for $80 on sale sometimes. The problem with momos is the paddles sometimes break but I fixed that with a hockey stick cut and taped behind them so you can't pull too hard. The other is the pots which get dirty. My momo lasted me over 5 years and believe me when i say I race a lot lol.

Totally agree about the buttons being lacking on the G25. That is my only frustration with it. I too like the heft and the fact that there's very little slop in it, even under hard force feedback.

I use the shifter pod for rally games, but try as I might, I can't get myself to figure out the H-pattern with the clutch, despite having only manual transmission cars. Don't know why I can't figure it out when I'm in the basement. :loco:

dusted off the momo last weekend. The left paddle keeps double-downshifting, the effect is somewhat unpleasant. :|
Hopefully some contact cleaner will do the trick.

it's dead. I could have used the shifter knob instead, but for some reason I removed it and it's no where to be found. I probably threw it away thinking "what would I ever need this for?" :geek:

If Futureshop and Best Buy can't get them, then online mail order is a good option. There are a couple canadian online retailers that have them.

RBC has them:

TigerDirect.ca has them, but the price is higher:

From the reviews of the G27, it looks amazing, but I have to agree that it's quite pricey. $300!?! So it's the same price as the PS3, which I'll also buy for GT5. I guess I better start learning about competing wheels and watch for sales!

So you guys recommend a momo one? A particular model?

I loved my momo one (momo FF black and red buttons) and don't consider my G25 as any better. I would by another momo if i had to. I especially liked the 6 bottons on the wheel as opposed to the G25's two. Most of the features on the G25 I don't even use including the shifter console. Its still in the box. On sale you can get one for under a hundred bucks. The only real problems with them is the paddles can break if you pull them too hard. You just take it back and get it replaced under warranty. I bought mine at Costco.

I have a Momo one and really like it a lot. If I were only using it for the PC, that is the wheel to have in my opinion. The only downside is that it isn't supported by some PS3 games (Grid, Formula 1). Though it does work for GT5 Prologue, you have to reach for the controller a lot. For use with the PC the Momo is great, but due to my console use I decided to "upgrade".

I highly recommend the Logitech "Driving Force GT" wheel for console use. (bestbuy.ca) It is good for PC games as well. Lots of programmable buttons.

In case anyone is looking for a G27, NCIX has them on sale for $250 until July 21st 2010. It might appear again for their subsequent week's sale too.
