Warren: Do you think you can jump out & check to see if the car is on fire?
Jodie: But I'm all strapped in here, ready to go, and we're due into the control in 30 seconds.
Warren: But I think the car is on fire.
Jodie: What makes you think that?
*gear shift falls through floor*
Warren: The fact the gear shifter just melted through the floor!
Jodie: Oh S$%^! Seems you're right! *grabs fire extinguisher & bails out*
Based on a true story. Oh, and chemical extinguishers aren't much use when your catalytic converter is so hot it is melting the insulation and igniting pretty much everything else under there so make sure you catch on fire within sight of an emergency vehicle with a water extinguisher. Also, cars without a gear shift connected to anything and a fly-off rally handbrake tend to roll away on hills if no one is in them, making it difficult to both keep them from rolling away and putting fires out at the same time.
