GTL Race Fri Mar 30 - Yank Tanks

Postby XL51 » Mon Mar 26, 2007 7:02 pm

GT Legends MCO Racing - Yank Tanks

Time = Fri Mar 30.
Server = Server open to hack around 7 to 9. Racing 9 to 11:30 pm.
We will NOT be using the GTL game lobby but hamachi virtual server software instead. Download here
Choose multiplayer option LAN/IP in GTL
session = mco1 password = mco

Tracks – do NOT come with GTL. Download links below.
Limerock by DutchDevil v1.1 layout (no chicane). Cars = TC 65 Falcon or TC 65 Mustang. 10 laps – 20 min quali
Leguna Seca by DutchDevil Cars = AC Cobra, 65 Vette, Shelby Daytona, or Shelby GT350. 7 laps – 20 min quali
Watkins Glen by DutchDevil NASCAR layout. Cars = Any U.S. Car = Any Falcon, Mustang, Cobra, Vette, GT40, Daytona. 7 laps – 20 min quali

BTW - I used the wilkepedia test to determine U.S. cars. Since the Pantera, Capri, & Escort are all Euro manu & chassis design they didn't make the cut. Thanks to Carol Shelby, the ACs made it in.

Teamspeak (mic/headsets program) = luker.on.ca.
Luker has password protected it now. He'd like everyone individually to PM him directly to get the password. If you can't reach Luke before then just join the game and type your request for the password in the chat

Drivers wanted. Pylons and pros all welcome. Crash up derby lovers not so much...

To unlock all cars and tracks you create an empty file using Notepad named "TG2001.DYN" in your GTL installation direction. Create a new driver profile. Any new profiles created in-game thereafter will have all tracks and cars unlocked from the start. You can copy your setup files from your first profile to your new unlocked one so you can use them there.

Checklist for online play. Make sure:

a) You download the correct version of the tracks - I've added directed links to the files in the original post above.
b) You use the original folder from the zip file (RAR archive) that the file downloaded to extract into your GTL locations folder.
c) Your himachi settings are (session) = mco1 (password) mco
d) Youve applied the GT Legends game version 1.1 patch to your game. Get it here.
e) All firewalls, antivirus and security software is OFF. Hamachi is more picky than the gameroom, seems just opening the ports is not working for some. Even if it worked in the past turn off windows firewall etc.

Thanks for the track suggestions Luke, Andre & Klinn. See y’all stateside.

Sounds great! One question -- which version of the tracks do you want to use? Lime Rock is available with and without the chicane, the Glen comes in three configurations. My vote would be Lime Rock without the chicane and Watkins Glen's "NASCAR" layout, but whatever you think is best!

Hey Klinn - sorry, I forgot to include the verions in the original post. I'll edit it.

Limerock - v1.1 (the no chicane layout) as you suggested.
Watkins - NASCAR is OK, tho I was originally thinking the long layout would be the best to let the faster cars have at it.

Nascar at the Glen will be fun, specially if we all meet at the chicane in GT40's :)

Track you missed, Sebring!!!!!!

With the number of great US tracks out there I am sure we can have one or two more similarly themed nights.

Oops - as of 8:10pm it looks like we've hit the limit of Hamachi connections (15+server), although most of them are greyed out. These races are getting popular I guess! :-)

I think people need to leave the group when they are done.

Yup, "Leave Network" rather than just going "Offline". Although I assume some of them have kinda reserved a slot and will join by race time? Anyway, I'll keep an eye on it in case I can join in later...

yeah, one option is to create a new network everytime.

Not sure if you the orginator of the group can blow it away.

Interesting, I was able to join the test session at Lime Rock, even though it doesn't show I'm part of the network. Well, cross fingers that it works for the race!
Edit: Thanks for the evening of racing! Unfortunately I had multiple disco problems.

- Lime Rock, in the "Ford Racing Beige" Mustang, disco'ed just after practice ended, couldn't re-join.

- Laguna Seca, in one of the red Mustang GT350's, got to the grid after practice but my controls weren't working!! Quickly back to the Options window to reset them but couldn't get back in time to get on the grid. Watched the race through the monitor though, that was cool.

- Watkin's Glen (first time) in one of the Daytona Coupes, practice & race went went fine, actually was having fun keeping up with the Corvettes & GT40s that were too busy battling amongst themselves to notice little ol' me in there. :)

- Watkin's Glen (second time) again in a Daytona Coupe, most of you Vettes etc took off and went over the horizon, but I did have one nice battle with a GT40 until one of them racin' thangs put me off into the gravel. ;)

- Modello, in beige Mustang again, did bone-headed charge into the first corner which hopefully didn't put anyone else in the gravel other than me (sorry), then got disco'ed about 5 laps into the race. Oh well...

Anyway, great fun - thanks for hosting the event, and I'm looking forward to the next.

Yeah sorry about the punt I did on you in the last race.
I suck in traffic :( and the GT40 and I did not get a long, did not even make a full lap before I broke it.

Now Laguna, that was just fun. Leaning on cars to make the turn was a good hoot.

After a really insense week at work, that was just what I needed. Even if I was enterainment for the faster cats.

No problem :) - in the Daytona coupe I had to brake 'way earlier than you since that car is seriously twitchy under any hint of trailbraking (at least with the default setup) so it probably caught you by surprise.

I tend to always use the original setups, just lengthening the gearing if required, since my adjustments usually suck. There's a reason why I stick to stock class in Solo2. ;)

I'm the same setup wise, I tried something different in the last race with the Alfa and it bit.

Love that car, but could not make it work.

I'll have to get some snap shots from the evening late this weekend.

Thanks for allowing me to race last night. I could only race at the Rock as the evening before I was at spa in F3 and had not a lot of time to setup three cars.
I spent some time with the falcon and got it working pretty well, although I was shocked when the race was a night one. Sort of threw off my sight line for a bit. Got a rear bad start as I have not mapped a clutch button and had to rev and bang the gear. Didn't work lol.
I found that camber, coast angle, and brake bias was a big thing thanks to Jeff. Also big with me was the steering ration which I have set now to a full 34.5 degrees. Works for me [burnout]

Nice picts. I love the pimp daddy lowrider shot of the Falcon. Tho I certainly had my issues Friday (night settings, lost controls, stalled off the line, couldn't avoid Steve's GT40, etc, etc, etc) I had a really great time. And it looks like you guys had a blast at Mond Short.

Pat - glad you could make it for the first race. In future don't worry too much about getting the uber setups, were decidedly lax compared to league racing.

Greg (or Jeff, srry) will be providing the tracks for next weeks events. In the futre I really like for people to provide their ideas and 'take a week' and I'll run their favourite racing night.

Klinn - great racing. You seemed to know when to get involved and when not to. Wish I had that skill sometimes (right Steve).

Just let me know here if you would like to take a week. After next week it's all open.

Great fun.

Though the prep work certainly paid off, you were running really quick. Wish I hadn't spun there mid-race. I was enjoying the close race.

I'll try to post the details Monday night but I'm thinking about mostly shorter tracks and shorter sessions to promote more passing and reduce the likelyhood of people getting stuck all alone on track.

Pat, you're taking this way to seriously. I didn't even have time to download Limerock until after 8pm on Friday and didn't know which direction the turns went until driving it in the practice session. It was the only track I knew what car I was going to drive before qualifying as the Falcon is faster than the Mustang.

Greg - I saw the replay of the Lime Rock race. Toward the end Pat seemed to be fading a bit as you were turning up the wick. Too bad you hooked a tire going for that extra tenth - you were closing fast and on it man!

Jeff - you got me loving that Vette. I'd imagine it isn't a short track wonder for this week, but it's nice to know it's there for the high speed stuff.
