RE Ferrari lapping day

Postby cmerrick » Wed Jun 16, 2010 12:08 pm

Anyone have any details about this?

is it set up like a normal Calabogie lapping day? 1/2 hour on 1/2 hour off, 7 sessions?
Who do you pay? MCO or Calabogie?
Anyone do it in the past? what's it like?

This is NOT an MCO event. Its part of the Ferrari festival program. Ita a regular lapping day and just show up and register. We're only posting this for some of our friends ans some MCO members who will be there.

Why can't money just grow on a tree in my backyard? Seriously I would water it and not neglect it like my other trees, I really wanted to do this event, heck it's my birthday even! But money is an object and I used too many of them this month and last month. :(

I really want to attend. Not because of the Ferraris, but because CMP is like crack to me, and I haven't had a fix in a LONG time.

The Ferraris just gild the lilly, in my opinion.

11 sick days still available to use....so tempting.

I'd need some sort of arm brace so support my arm though. It's going to get pretty tiring constantly waving these guys around the protege all day

I'm willing to take the day off tomorrow however...
I don't want to be told to "beat it" at the gate because of my shaky "track
experience" which is:

1) Regular Motorcycle track days at Calabogie (3 years)
2) Auto-X with MCO (2 years)

Other than that my car has never been on the track.

I wish I could find someone official to say yay or nay.

Mr MCO said I'd be fine so I'm going tomorrow.

If you can't afford to walk away from it, you can't afford to take it onto a track.

I bet many though will not be driven anywhere near their limit. Shame really.......

Exactly why I built my track rat, walking away from it would hurt but it won't break the bank :) Even with 100 WHP it is a boat load of fun and quick enough to annoy some Miata owners.... :poke:

BTW..... I know a couple of Ferrari owners that could walk away from thier cars and do drive them the way they are supposed too, but seriously these cars are automotive art to be enjoyed (driven fast) not abused, thats what Hondas are for.

There's an Enzo coming in for the festival. Don't know if he will be at the track.

An Enzo. How cool would that be to have your doors blown off by an Enzo going down the back straight at Calabogie?!

LOL, we think the same way. Especially when driving a car that costs less than the tax on the Enzo!

If it's like the Viper event I attended a few years ago, you are most likely to encounter a bunch of red pylons that drive like grandma in the turns and treat the straights like drag strips :) There were maybe 2 or 3 exceptions out of ~20 cars. But at least they're taking them to the track!

Saw a bunch of them going down the 417 west this AM. The old 308s still stir a response. Loved those cars. I'd love to see a 288 GTO in the buff.

I went by for a while this morning...

A couple of Testarossas, an old 35-something, a 308, several 430s, a 430 Challenge, a couple of Maranellos (595?) to name a few. There was a Lamborghini there, don't remember which model. 2 Maseratis.

And a Saleen S7 that had an off-track excursion and (from what I could tell in the paddock) a discussion with one of the barriers.

I'll try and post a few pics this weekend.
