Ummm no, the thickness is not the only determining factor.

As far as I know those cages do not qualify but I may be wrong and/or depends on the cage.

Do you have the spoon or cusco?

Quick glance i see a few issues

Under 2500lbs 1.5 tubing is ok
But i think 1.75 is needed for 2500lbs +

No diag on the main hoop

Pretty sure this cage isn't "legal".

Hold on there, lets clarify things first. MCO lapping days conform to the CASC solo 1
rules (time attack) for 2011.

What is this roll cage? What does it look like?

here is the basic minimum requirements:

1.the cage must be a roll hoop, have two bars extending back and downward, and have a diagonal brace
on it. Like a roll cage but only the rear part.
2.may be bolt in or welded
3.I'm assuming the weight of your car is over 2500 lbs so the cage must be 1.5 inches in diameter
and have a wall thickness of .096 inches. (this is standard CASC for race cars).
4.The top of the roll bar must be at least 2 inches above your head with your helmet on.

thats about it other than install procedures such as using mounting plates for a bolt in, quality of
welds. Make sure your cars headrests are installed.

Pretty simple. Check that out and let us know. Go to the time attack website accessed from the
CASC website main page and check out pages 9-11 of the regulations. I've simplified it for you because
I know its hard for a newbie and can be confusing.
These track days are mine and Chuckes. Talk to us if you have any problems getting information.
I hope to see you on track with us.

From checking out your spoon item the problem is as wing has said, the brace inside the hoop was designed to attach your 5 point belts to and is straight across. You would need to attach a diagonal brace from the left lower point to the right upper point and is mandatory. Everything else looks good on its face. You could get a bar installed or you will have to send it back and get another.

The Japanese bolt on roll bars/cages typically don't comply to North American rule sets. This particular one doesn't have a diagonal and the the tube diameter is probably too small.

The only bolt on I know of for the S2000 that complies to Solo1 rules is the Harddog. It's also cheaper than any JDM roll bars/cages. When I got mine there really wasn't any off the shelf options, it had to be custom.

Take a read before modifying the Spoon bar. You could probably sell it for more than the cost of the Harddog, but that's only if it is un-modified to a "show car" guy. Check the tube diameter and wall thickness and I would double check the aft braces. The rules indicate a minimum 30 degree angle, but I'm assuming that is intended for straight tubes to prevent a main hoop from collapsing. The bent tube braces are in that grey zone.

yes and no Dave. only if its mild steel and its optional depending on thickness.
its 1.75 if the thickness is .095 and 1.50 if its 0.120

we don't know the thickness of this bar? Folks, you really need to ask questions before buying this stuff.
A lot of times guys buy whole race cars in the States and when they are scrutineered for CASC racing the
cages are found to be illegal. Thats a 4 g expense. Yikes!

The only way to find out the thickness if you don't have the specs is to drill the bar and measure the wall.
Honestly, your probably better off at this point to return the item, call CSC racing, and ask them what they can do for you.
Talk to Jennifer.
