Sponsorship Committee

Postby GoesFilled » Tue Jan 11, 2011 1:50 am

Hello All

At our last Executive meeting, MCO decided to officially form a Sponsorship Committee to build and maintain our base of sponsors, and develop procedures for dealing with sponsor requests and needs, and comprehensive package outlining the benefits of sponsoring MCO.

Recruitment and maintenance of our sponsors through better communication to show our sponsors value and appreciation is something that MCO really has to improve upon.

I'll be heading the new Sponsorship Committe and am looking for a few good people to help.

Craig Lee has been doing a great job of dealing with many of our sponsors for years and will be joining me.

Who else is interested has some good marketing and sponsorship ideas?

Potential new sponsors?

New ways sponsors can contribute?

I'm open to all ideas - and once we get some interest - we'll get a quick meeting together to brainstorm and refine a basic structure and goals.

Thanks all!!

I'm interested in helping out. I am also talking to a local shop I know and they are interested in becoming a sponsor.

a great way the club could contribute would be to offer input when volunteers who are working on sponsorship ask for it. great place to start! happy volunteers make happy sponsors

Good point Mike. I know that you were doing some sponsorship legwork for a while... Like I said the lack of club policy on sponsorship always meant the topic was a secondary thought... so much so that when approached, the Exec didn't really know where to start or how to proceed as to valuing our sponsorship opportunities.

This is part of what the committee is meant to address - with some structure we can better support our members that ARE working on sponsorship.

Excellent Dave...

Sounds like we're building up a good base to toss some ideas about and find out where we stand.

I'll be contacting you in the next couple of days to get everything up and running.

Are you looking for ideas as well, or just people to help on the committee for now?

I'm looking for members for the committee AND those with ideas. It's mostly new territory for us... for me anyway, so while the slate isn't blank - there's no picasso painted on it.

Well, i am not a good committee member.. the "commit" part kills me, but I am willing to show up for a brainstorming session as I am full of ideas, amongst other things!

You can always send me a text, I'll be glad to join for the meeting and forward any ideas.
I have also forwarded a new sponsor to you for this year, he should be e-mailing you shortly.

I thought I had already expressed interest in this but apparently not.

Consider me interested in helping out with sponsorship.

Wow - 6 months goes really fast...

We're going to have the first official Sponsorship Committee Meeting next week.

Typically - MCO has handled sponsorship in an ad-hoc fashion and has known for several years that a more professional approach to sponsorship would be very beneficial to both MCO and our members.

The purpose for this first meeting is to brainstorm and come up with a rudimentary structure from which we can develop a comprehensive sponsorship package.

To Be Discussed:
- marketing for MCO - facts and figures
- what can we ask our sponsors for? what is sponsorship worth?
- what is the currency? Cash? Discount coupons? Prizes?
- what type of sponsors does MCO want?

This package is meant to benefit ALL MCO disciplines and will ideally be customizable when approaching event / discipline sponsors to let them how MCO can promote their businesses.

As head of the soon to exist Sponsorship Committee - I'm looking for 2 things:

1) INPUT from members with experience in sponsorship (from either side) while not necessarily committing to an ongoing roll
- existing sponsorship material / research we can use to structure our package
- potential new MCO sponsors
- review historical MCO sponsors and what they have been providing
- discipline directors - what do YOU want from Sponsors?
- current sponsors - What can you offer? How can MCO best help you?
- experience with dealing with sponsors, either from a racer or sponsor perspective.

2) Committee Members to be involved in development of the sponsorship plans
- should be relatively informal - mostly web-based discussions - and then the occasional meeting to review and grow

TIME: 7pm

DATE: Tuesday June 14/11

WHERE: Tifosi @ St Anthony Soccer Club

Please respond in this thread if you have interest and can make this meeting - or if you'd like to contribute but can't make the meeting post in here as well.

I know I've had interest from (sorry if I've missed anyone):

Dave C
Rich (Ayseven)
Jeff A

Anyone else able to lend a hand?
