Golf rally car build

Postby morrow » 2016.08.31 09:10:45 AM

Rallyists, Ivan is in the process of building a rally car and has questions as he goes through the process. You can check out the photos and story at viewtopic.php?f=26&t=18018 -- "General Discussion" / "Project Cars".

Once he gets the build complete, Ivan will be an active competitor in OPRC events -- maybe starting with rally sprint? Any advice would be appreciated.

Ivan came out to last night's meeting to find out what we do. He's already made contact with Darryl, but let's help him on his way!

Yes you have, Dave, and it's appreciated!

Ivan came out to our Rally Group meeting on Tuesday and got introduced to a bunch of us. Among them was Darryl Malone, who can advise him on any technical aspects. It's a very good idea to have technical advice on your cage build before it's actually in there for good!

Thanks again, Dave. :chug:

It's our pleasure, Ivan. Come out to the Rally Group meetings when you can, and keep in touch. We're all interested in helping rallyists, especially when you're building your first rally car! You have some good contacts now, especially with Darryl Malone -- he's the former CARS Technical Director.

For next year's Lanark Highlands Forest Rally, as you may have noted at the RG meeting, Darryl wants to hold a rallysprint on one of the northern stage roads after the OPRC part has gone through. You'll need some seat time in your car beforehand, but the rallysprint is certainly an option. We'll also need workers, so that's another good way to understand how a rally is run and see how the drivers handle the stage roads.
