Trailer and ABS

Postby Jaak » Wed Aug 01, 2012 4:59 pm

I was towing a 4,500 lb. trailer today with my Tundra which is rated at double that for towing. Trailer had usual electric brakes. After turning a corner and over some gravel marbles the ABS shut off which also meant the VSC turned off. I stopped and "re-booted" by turning the engine off and it was fine again. Any ideas why this would happen?

When I was grooming the WDS with the Jeep - I could occasionally get the ESP to - I guess overload itself and shut down. Made it a much better vehicle for pulling in deep snow.

I'd guess that the little bit of slippage and push from the trailer in the turn made the computer think there was an error and shut down the system as a default.
