We'll be at the airport setting up the course, you're welcome to come. After that, we're probably heading to "The Loft" for some good local food and frolic. There's also a bunch of folks at Shanonville lapping until early evening, then some of them are joining us.

Since you already have an 'STi', there's probably nothing you want at The Loft. However, it is supposed to be the Picton hotspot for local nightlife.

Expect odd numbers of both toes and chromosomes.

Edit: I'll probably be there though :)

Phil,

You start in E Stock. By my read, aftermarket turbos are only allowed in Street Prepared and Mod classes. Take the points prep schedule and see whether you end up in Mod or SP by point count (only 14 points allowed in SP). If you're over 14, you're automatically in MOD. If you're in MOD, I think it's DMOD. This makes sense as your car is kinda like Bill's and he ran DMOD at Nationals last year, I think.

Hopefully, Greg C, Klaus, or one of the other regionally-savvy can validate for you.

Here's how I see it...
Removal of airbag +1
Rollcage -2
Fire Extinguisher -1
Suspension mods +3
Wider tires +1
Turbo +4
Air Intake +2 (Still required after turbo system?)
Flywheel +2
Total = +10 pts

I assumed the following...
- Removing the sun visors are not considered "weight reduction"
- The "Manifold or Header othert han OEM" is not considered, as it falls under "Turbocharger SYSTEM"

What do these points mean? Naresh says my car starts in D-Class... so D+ 10pts = ?

Thanks,

Funny post about the STi+loft. Pay it forward I say ... I'm assuming Picton is small enough that we'll be able to find "The Loft" (which is always in quotations) on our own? Strangely, this classy joint doesn't have a website.

SubaPhil - Don't the negative points only come off if you've taken points for weight reduction?

Phil,

If those tires are of a treadwear rating of 140 or greater, then I BELIEVE you can run in the STU (Street Touring Unlimited) class. To be honest, I'm not TOO familiar with the ST classes, you would have to check to see if you have any mods that aren't allowed.

Otherwise, you will be in CSP, or DMOD. It is very common for boosted Miatas to run in CSP. A correction to what was posted earlier: if you have more than 15 points, then you will be forced to DMOD.

Also, Jordan is correct, the negative points can only offset weight reduction points.

I was just thinking STU might be an option as well.

Wouldn't it be CMOD as his engine is only a 1.6L?

When you are boosted, you have to multiply your actual displacement by 1.4 to calculate your "classing" displacement. Therefore to have a boosted car in CMOD, it would have to have a 1.4ish litre engine.

Phil,

Run it in STU, it's a more filled class that you'll have more fun benchmarking against rather than trying to navigate the minefield of PAX/classing.

Turbo dumps you into BSP I'm afraid....screw it I say. You're not going to win STU, just run that and if people ask plead ignorance.

Chris, S2K would either be AS or BSS or BSP depending on how many points you do. Pretty sure your wheels dump you into BSS automatically though...

Thanks Pat. I'll do the points later when I have a moment. Or I should just default to whatever is the "worst" since I have a meeeellllion points.

Thanks Pat! I couldn't figure out myself. So I'm BSP (B Street Prepared). Like you said I don't plan in winning anything, just have fun. I just want to simplify Saturday's registration.

Actually you're CSP; only the mazda speed miata maps to BSP.

See what I mean about the minefield?
