Definitely up for trying this next year. Too many financial pressures this year.

-------------

Qualifying Results
1st Place - Greg Van Dalen - 2002 Mustang GT
Fastest Lap - 1:24.271

2nd Place - Matt Edmonds - 1991 Mustang
Fastest Lap - 1:25.470

3rd Place - Ryan Quesnel - 2005 Corvette
Fastest Lap - 1:28.242

4th Place - Lorne Edmonds - 1988 Mustang LX
Fastest Lap - 1:29.765
--------------------------------

This was a fantastic event, and with everyone new to the short (stadium) track, it was great to see the times drop with every lap out there.

A big congratulations to Greg Van Dalen in the #16 Red 2002 Mustang who drove an amazing race and then turned it on at the end of the race for a total domination of the field and handily winning out inaugural race.

Other notes of the day:

- Ryan Quesnel had an incredible day in his 2005 Corvette shaving over 5 seconds off his fastest lap between qualification and the race.
- Matt Edmonds had to retire early due to a blown belt and failure of one of his tires.

For anyone considering doing this event, I'm sure we will all attest that this was an amazing day. Next race we will be on track at the same time as the CMP mustangs, so its time to show them what we can do!

Mark you calendars, the next event is Thursday July 28th, 2011, and we need registrations to keep this event going, and remember if you sign up for the remaining three events you save $50 per event when you buy in bulk (see the main description in the OP for full details)

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me at calabogieGT@gmail.com

See you at the track!

Depends on cash flow. If I can get all the things needed done on the car in time then I might be in for the last two events.

Great!

Just a quick question, there aren't any classes within the GT race correct? We are classified differently than the CMP Mustangs but within our group its all the same if I understand correctly, right?
And also are we running with the CMP Mustangs or not at this point?

Thanks :D

You are correct, and we run with the CMP Stangs. It's a growing idea/series, it could change up but only for the best.

Time for a bit of light fun.

Mani is in.

I hope the early adopters of this series get some incentives to keep coming back. It will be fun for sure but hopefuly we can get some sort of a structure going once the event is more established to have some parity between competitors.

Win or Lose I think the fun will overshadow it all.

It will be fun no doubt. I decided to enter just to help this event get going, I know there is no way I could be competitive with some of the drivers (and cars) out there, so it'll be much more like a lapping session with some very nice people for me. I would love to see this evolve into something more structured just so I can experience that competitive element as well.

See you all out there :chug:

Mani:

This is exactly what we are looking at doing. This year is really to get the word out that we are doing this, and to get interest up. Currently we only run one class but restrict the times to the specified envelope, its keeps people all playing in the same ball park. To break it into more classes of course means more participants. If we can get 20 per race next year, we could easily run 2 classes and do a split around the 2:25 or 2:30 mark.

I really appreciate you coming out to support this. I think you will find on the short track you are more competitive than you think. It is a great equalizer, it's non-stop action, and lots of fun when filled with cars.

I dont know how often you have done races or gentleman's races, but I have found (and heard from many others) that it doesn't matter whether your battling for 1st place or 2nd last place... it's the battles themselves that make it fun. We currently have cars running everywhere between that 2:25 - 2:45 mark, so there will always be someone to battle with!

Having the rolling start might seem simple, but really does make it feel more exciting.

I'm with you ... it'll be nice to keep this format going. It's always going to be challenging to equalize performance. Maybe inverted grids, or staggered starts(but that get's rid of that rolling start).
