Calabogie Lapping Questions ?

Postby joezryde » Wed Jul 06, 2011 7:40 am

Hey,Just a few questions about Cali. lapping on July 14 .
I have attended event #2 & #3 at Scotia Bank ,just wanted to know if my car is going to pass at Cali., do they do a more intense inspection. If I had Ralf at C/T on Carling do inspection would that be a good idea.Don't want to waste a trip up to Cali.
Next Question- "Speed" what are some of the top speeds Km.
I'm planning on bringing up my better half, will she be bored, can she hang out with me?
Thanks

1) Having an autocross worthy car, and a track worthy car are two very different things. The sustained loads, heat, and wear incurred under track running are significantly more intense. I strongly recommend a 'track specific' inspection prior to running. This is one of the times when it's excellent to have CT Carling available.

2) 'Top Speeds' on the longest straight are most dependent on your car's horsepower and aerodynamics. Peak speeds are pretty academic, however average speeds are around 100 km/h.

3) It depends on how interested your better half is in cars and motorsports. There's certainly lots of people around, and you'll have plenty of time to chat.

Folks, we're touching 40 cars now with a lot of newbie drivers. Make sure you go to the lapping page on the main page of the website and read.
There is a printable self declared tech form to fil out and bring to the track. There is some other reading there that gives you a very good
idea of what goes on.
Try to be at the track as early as possible to get through registration, get your car prepared, and there is also a drivers meeting.

thanks, Pat.

Pat/Chuck,

I recall from a lapping day last year that newbies weren't allowed to take a non-participant passenger on their first day at CMP.

Is this still the rule? Just to avoid any disappointed faces.

AFAIK, the only passenger lapping newbies can carry is an instructor.

go on youtube and search calabogie ..

if you've been to shannonville for the first time, a newbie can get a good feel and jist of the configuration the first time out

pho me at Calabogie.. the first time was a huge learning experience... because of the elevation changes and blind corners.. it took me a while to know what came next

watch the vids, and learn the track.. it will help a bunch before you get there
