Event 11 Feedback thread

Postby echocarver » Sun Oct 02, 2011 6:52 pm

Hi Everyone,

Thanks to all who participated in the team event today...I simply can't believe the weather held out for us.

Welcome to the feedback thread...please post your comments about the event. What you liked, or if there were any issues, constructive criticism is best.

We are interested in feedback both about the new layout (Paddock in the west end of the lot) and the team event itself.

Best Regards,

Steve

Personally,

I thought it was a change from the usual, and it was great fun!
I defenitely think a bit more time to prepare and have themes would have been a whole lot more fun. Unlike physk, I don't have 4 pink shirts that are exactly the same in my wardrobe!

Maybe have one at the season's start, and one at the end of the season next year. So the teams can see how well they've excelled over the year.

Definitely a ton of fun! I loved the course and I found the teams made it casual, but yet no less competitive! I personally had a blast!

I like Remy's idea of having something like this at the beginning and one at the end. A nice way to kick things off and then wrap the season up.

Great job to everyone who helped organize the event! Also, congrats to all the teams that won awards! You guys did a great job!

Next year, the lions will return!

LOL, do you know how hard it was to find pink tshirts to fit men?

I would like to personally thank all the volunteers and other competitors for a great year. I can't imagine a better group of people to spend a rainy Sunday with, specifically, my teamates today, John, and Wayne, and special mention to Cristophe, who even though he always loads all that heavy stuff into the trailer every time out, stayed in the wet to help me and John put my windshield back on. Fantastic, and it all starts at the top. Realistically, I don't see how things could be better done.

I had an absolute blast today, although part of that was the intense battle between El Jalapeno and I along the day. The concept was great and I didn't hear anyone say anything negative about it.
As well, having the paddock in the new area was most refreshing and made for a completely different setup: kuddos to Jamie for the design!

See you all next season!

LOVED the course. We should try using putting the paddock over there more often. The course seemed nice and long, but the times were soooo fast. Are the fast guys just that much faster than 2 or 3 years ago?

What an outstanding event! That was probably the most fun I have ever had racing in any format.

The teams and themes were a great approach. I met a few new people and got to know a few others better because of it. I am certain you'll see a better push on costumes for next year now that the gloves have come off.

The racing was very engaging too; as the course was very exciting.

And thanks for the trophy for the loud exhaust... usually I just get a ticket. ;)

LOVED the new layout. I found it easier to see the whole course.
It was a great event and it was an absolute blast :D I'm looking forward to next year's team challenge already!
I enjoyed battling it out with you Etienne.

Last year's event was nice too, but this year: running in a normal, # sequential manner, we get more runs and wait less, resulting in us having more fun overall.

It was a great event.

Thought it was a great event.
The new paddock set up was good, though I agree, I wish the bathrooms would have been a bit closer.
The team format was a lot of fun. Made for friendly competition.

Awesome Event! I loved the atmosphere that the team challenge provided. From the flowing manes of team Rampant to the the trash(y) suits of the Garbagemen, it was great to see such enthusiasm. Congrats the the Nasty Trash Division, you guys owned.

That said, we'll be upping our game for next year. We'll be throwing some faster trash your way!

I'm glad to hear that most people liked the course! I tried to give it some diversity in terms of some fast corners (read: road course-ish), some acceleration zones (read: power sections) and some tighter areas to navigate (sorry, vettes). Big thanks to Rob for doing a great job clerking the course. You did an awesome job making sure it was safe and clear to follow, all with the pesky course designer peeking over your shoulder.

Cheers, cone killers!

Lots of fun today!!

The paddock arrangement was quite interesting - it was nice to be able to watch a complete run from one spot at the top of the lot. Once the spectators were arranged behind the staging line, it was much better for the timers to see who was up next from the tent.

Some additional thoughts:
- I'm starting a petition to ban "El Jalapeno" from the mic.
- twice in one season is far too often to see Mr. Physk in PJ's.
- my ears are still ringing from Motorhead Michael's Aural Assault vehicle.
- when it's too cold to drive barefoot, dress socks will do
- what happens in the M3, stays in the M3
- I love Cookie Monster
- Chris B has yet to develop that healthy fear of death
- something about working at Canadian Tire Carling makes you drive really fast...
- Yarises have ABS; Shawn B now has square tires
- The Eurotrash team can take a good ribbing and keep on smiling and driving really fast.

First and foremost - MCO is filled with awesome folk who are great to spend a day with! On top of that we have some seriously fast (and getting faster) drivers in this club!! Be proud

Thanks to all involved.

You were definitely our inspiration though! :)

I agree, the team format made you want to do better, not only for yourself, but for the good of the team.

One thing that is great about the team format and has not yet been spelled out is that it definitely does NOT need to be a members only event, albeit it being a great spin on an end of year tradition. I'll add that it was great fun to support your teammates throughout the day, while still having a ton of laughs at all the (euro)trash-talking both online and on course.

You didn't try; you succeeded! That was definitely one of best courses I've run since I started AutoX'ing, and not having to do that annoyingly repetitive 180 where the paddock sat yesterday was awesome!

Teams were a great idea, I loved it. It is true that you want to do better for the team. To be repeated next year for sure.

One thing that may be limiting wth this paddock arrangement is space: with 70 entries, it was already somewhat difficult to get back to your parking spot because the start queue(s) had to be between parking rows. If we were ever to get 80+ entries, it would be crammed. Other than that, I think it was excellent, great course, great view of it, great animation. Thanks to all.

Anybody find a toque at Tommy's? I think I left my MCO one there last night.

BTW Jeff, I believe the comment was "banned from the MIC". Pat doesn't need one.

The course map was one of the best I've seen in Ottawa in a long time. I loved the more opened, flowy but technical aspect.
The MCO course maps are sometimes guilty of not being "flow-condusive".

I enjoyed throwing the big boat arround the parking lot, it definetely did better times than I expected. 5th in B Class with a clean run of 52.785 and 18th out of 69 cars overall. There was some slightly quicker runs in there, but an "encounter of the cone kind" was involved in both. It was a good day to chose AWD.

Thanks to everyone who helped organize. I hope to see some of you in Picton on the 16th!

Being away from autocross for over a month this was the event to return to. The course was one of the best if not the best that that I have ever run. I also liked changing the location of the paddock area. Would like to see that change implemented next year.

Wasn't the fastest out there yesterday, but at least our team got a prize for looking the best ;)
