Greg, did you get someone to open the gate last night and, if so, how did the grooming program go? Was the new groomer involved?? If so, how'd it go? Huh? Huh?

Enquiring minds just gots to know!! :D

Guy groomed with the old groomer for a few hours late last night. This was a last minute deal. I was kind of betting we wouldn't get conditions that good while we are all away on Christmas vacation. I won't get to see the track for a few days but I expect we probably have a pretty solid base. It may be a little bumpy as the blades can no longer be used on the old groomer, but we'll see what it looks like.

As for the new groomer, we hope to pick the rest of it up from the paint shop tomorrow. Final assembly will be Friday & Saturday. So, with luck we'll bring it to the track on Sunday. Tough to plan around the vacation, but we are in good shape. I hope it doesn't get too warm Sunday, but slightly above zero would be great conditions for trying out the new groomer. I can hardly wait.

Good news so far. It was so quiet, I think everyone was quite worried about the schools. A 20cm dump would be nice......I think :P

Was a good dump the other night, a little sticky which is good.

If it gets mild and there is some precip on Sunday over the good snow base from the past couple of days and then the temp drops again? It just doesn't get much better than that! Excellent call to get the groomer out to do an initial base build - congrats Greg and to Guy for responding.

Hmm - highs if 3-5 and little snow and freezing rain on Fri - dropping to -19 on Tuesday sounds near perfect.

I'll be back in Ottawa Tuesday AM if needed.

You are probably all over it but this is the time to keep pounding on the base with the groomer to help it strengthen up. If it turns mild then freezes again after, again keep grooming and pounding it to firm it up.

A large dump is actually not a good thing. Deep snow cannot be easily compacted. Small snow dumps with sun and warm temps - and lots of groomer action!!

It looks like your prayers are being answered!!!
