Delta Wing has been on track

Looks like they've got it rolling. It will be really interesting to see out there if they are successful in getting it to Lemans race ready.

How the heck does that turn? Really cool, just has me confused with such a wide rear and a narrow front you would think it would just understeer.

Presumably, the center of gravity is much further rearward than a car with a more typical ratio of front to rear track widths. So, the front tires don't actually have to do much work to make it turn. I'd like to see what happens when the rear breaks traction though. A LOT of inertia about the front axle! :o

The tech specs on their website are actually quite impressive. Aerodynamically, the car looks excellent.

Demo runs with the Delta Wing scheduled for lunch time to day plus a couple of other runs later.

Allegedly it actually turns!

I wouldn't expect to get any representative laptimes until next week when they are doing real testing for the first time. I assume it will be part of an ALMS test, as opposed to a private test, so hopefully we'll have access to some results.

Half the Hp, half the weight and big aero advantage. The only disadvantage I can see would be braking. As long as they can balance the suspension and aero, I would think they could match P2 class times. Using half the fuel in the process.

I don't necessarily care to see a whole field of these cars racing, but I appreciate that they are making a real effort to develop something new that achieves specific goals.

It was a demo low speed run. The 1.5 liter Nissan Turbo engine is very quiet. It is supposed to be back out again tomorrow.

I'm all for quiet engines, but that has to be the ugliest looking vehicle since the AMC Pacer.

Point well made!
They all laughed at that weird rear view mirror someone stuck on that car at the Indy 500 many years ago as well!! :D
