2012 MCO ADVANCED DRIVING SCHOOL

Postby schmoo » Wed May 09, 2012 12:28 pm

Are you interested in seeing what your car can do?
Are you interested in seeing what YOU can do?

The MCO Advanced Driving School is designed to give you a solid foundation in general high performance driving.

NOTE: THE COURSE FORMAT THIS YEAR WILL BE AS IT WAS IN 2008 AND EARLIER.

The course is one day in length with both out-of-car sessions where basics like safety, driver positioning, vehicle dynamics, and driving lines are discussed and then put into practice.

With a limited number of spaces set to ensure that every student receives a wealth of personalized feedback and maximum seat time, this school always sells-out quickly, so don't miss your opportunity.

Course Dates & Locations:

May 19th 07:30 - 16:30
Location: Lot #9 Scotiabank Place

Cost:

MCO members: $96.05 incl. HST non-MCO members: $124.30 incl. HST

Registration Meter

How to Register:

Registration will be handled through Karelo.com and its secure payment system, which accepts major credit cards.

Registration opens at 7PM on May 9th here: http://www.karelo.com/register.php?BID= ... 10#Ev12090

Registration closes at noon on May 18th.

FAQ:

1. Can anyone participate? What if I've never done anything like this?

Anyone who is 18 years old; has a full driver's license, insurance; and a vehicle in sound working condition may participate. This course is designed around beginners so don't be afraid if this is your first foray into high performance driver education.

2. Do I need a sports car for this?

Most definitely not! Our school is open to all types of vehicles from family station wagons, to common compacts, to high powered exotics. The only exceptions are vehicles with roll-over risks such as SUVs, trucks, and mini-vans, which we generally do not accept. For the same reason, Smart Cars are generally not permitted. If in doubt, please post here or contact 'Alf' by private message.

3. Who will be instructing?

Our volunteer instructors are MCo veterans with proven track records as competitors and as instructors. They typically have championships under their belts, years of experience as instructors, and experience in a wide range of cars.

4. Does this happen rain or dry?

While driving is usually more fun under sunny skies, rain does happen so we run, wet or dry. Take some comfort that students will tend to be warm and dry in their cars all day, unlike those making the school happen.

Does 30 views equal 30 people with Karelo pre-loaded on their screens at 6:50PM?

Signed up!

Regarding the "pre-2008 format", does this mean there will be individual drills instead of a mini-autoX course?

Evomike, I just signed up too. You mentioned you might take the Audi...should I bring the Impreza or the Evo for this course? Prefer to take the Subie if there's a possibility of bumps to the Evo.
Thanks,
Corinne

The only think you'll be likely to bump is cones, unless something goes terribly wrong and you hit a curb. But I've only ever seen that happen once (at an event, not at the school). Start slow, work your way up and you shouldn't have a problem. :)

The course is very well run, and safety is always the number one concern.

Thanks Gamz for all the info...decided to bring the Subie as I might be too preoccupied keeping the Evo safe and miss the important driving info ...anyways, I'm going to track the Evo at Luskville later saturday evening, so in the end both of my cars will have a good day and me too. :D I will sign up for some of the other racing activities here and test my Evo then. Thanks again. Corinne

Many thanks to Schmoo and all other instructors for making the driving school very engaging and enjoyable. :chug:
Had to have a nap as soon as I got home. Signs of the aging process?

Great event. Glad to help out!
I learned the importance of sun block!
I think dipping myself in sunblock is called for next event!
