Video from Karting!

Postby wing » Mon Oct 31, 2005 6:30 pm

Here's the video from yesterday's karting fun! Great time had by all, thanks to Greg for organizing!

I didn't have much video to play with but I did what I could, first video I've ever made that wasn't just a solo II run [lol]

That's a nice little vid James. Given we only had one spot to get footage from, the end product is really quite nice. I liked the water crash, that was a nice touch. Mustn't have been too fun for the driver, :P

Anyone know of a way to get onboard stuff possibly with a bullet cam.... anyone tried a helmet mount for their camera?

I frequently run an in-car camera (Digital 8mm) but I wouldn't subject it to the vibration and pounding from those karts.

These guys seem to have some very compact stuff... probably would work okay for karting and other 'extreme' sports for shorter recording periods. Look at their solidstate recorder for that.

My old analog Hi-8 camera bit the dust after two years of extreme punishment in the racecar. I'm going to be looking for something a bit more robust, and potentially something with a remote lipstick cam. For a camera solution, I'm thinking of something a little more flexible and with better video output than that of the above mentioned systems... but it's a tad more expensive.

Did you guys reserve the course or what? You didn't even get to run on the full course!

Actually the shorter track worked out quite well with only 11 drivers as it provided someone to play with about half the time. I think the full track would have been quite boring with the karts spaced out that much more.

For that, I would suggest an On board Bullet Cam kit. We have kits with the recorder and the bullet cam.

Where is that track and how does one get the keys to one of those monsters? :)

www.randyzimmer.com has a lot of on-board rally videos and describes his camera setup (bullet cam, too).
