2008-09 sim racing season starts soon.

Postby PMcD » Mon Aug 11, 2008 12:58 pm

I have recieved a preliminary schedule from the "regulars". This year is RFactor spec racer fords and another spec racer mod later on. The track choice is very good. The racing would be about every second Thursday evening from about 7 to 9pm.
If anyone wants to join in on this please visit the website here http://users.hfx.eastlink.ca/~mackaypenny/gplreg.html and contact the administrators. Tell them I sent you. This is a serious series with serious rules but there's always someone to race with as the talent varies. Last year the best racing was between 5th to 10th place.

more on it when i get it. Dust off the momos.

I'm looking forward to running the series again. I was really amazed at how much help running with these guys was last year. It gave me a really good idea of what it takes to run clean in traffic. In the Mobil 1 GT Sprints and the Enduro series this season, we've finished every race with only two instances of light contact and we've been scoring some great results along the way.

First race of the season is tonight. The Le Mas Du Clos track is technical and fun. It definitely affords good passing opportunities.

Greg, that was some bloody brilliant racing tonight in race2. Good, clean running there. You couldn't have put an Amex card between our 2 cars for the whole race! I really didn't think I was gonna be able to get ya...too bad in that last corner for ya there :)

Cheers

Great fun. So close from start to finish, I couldn't even get one drink of beer.

I just got done watching the replay of that race. You ended it off with a great pass. Side by side the whole way up the straight, I lose speed in the first corner and we drag race up the whole back section where you had the inside line through the high speed right and was able to clear me by the next left. I held on until the end of that lap, but didn't have any challenge for you on the last lap. I tried a desperation downshift to 1st to help the car turn in more, which worked until I hit a bump and spun. No matter, you had a second or more on me by that point.

I'll take real driving over a sim any day, but the racing has all the thrill when you run with a good group like that, or our MCO guys.

I had a brake pedal pot failure. Basically almost no brakes. My fault for not buying a new wheel and pedals after last years bad run in the last two races with only part throttle. I switched the pots over and thought I was ok and as the racing went on I just couldn't stop the car so I bowed out.
I certainly don't like not being up front duking it out. Luckily the rest of the evening msde up for it ;)

I can only hope I get as much mileage out of my Momo wheel as you've had with yours. Sounds like a good time for an upgrade.

Sorry I missed it last night, but I am having issues with GPL to get the Formula V stuff to work.

I think we will need to surrender and just wait for the GTR2 stuff to come on line with the regulars or if we can get a group together again for some MCO racing that would be great as well.

Cheers.

We had a field of 17 cars last evening at Cadwell. C'mon people, make it 20.
