Oh, anyone know what the heck you do at a pit stop?

I stop, hit enter, shut the car off they do stuff start the car and go. Can you do stuff? Like not change all the tires? etc?

wing wrote:I'm close on the speed getting to 202km/h not 204km/h (what's with this MPH) But if you do it with 2 wing there is something else better because I'm doing it with 1 wing. I have no problem on the corners though in the rear, front end slides before the rear gives me any troubles.

Sounds like I won't be very competitive with the current setup as I can only run 1:29.5 on a good run, any small mistake and it's 1:31 ish.

Turn 2 is a killer, turn in a fraction too late and you have to lift to get it to stay on track. I'll see if I can play with my setup a bit tonight. But it doesn't seem to matter what setup I run, I run the same time hahahaha. Kind of like real life, doesn't matter what I do to the car, I run the same time ;)

race tracking is so much different than autocross. I had to teach a prominate autocrosser a whole different way this year at Calabogie. He got real fast lol. Its all about being smooth instead of muscling the car around. In your settings you can change from KPH to MPH and metric to imperial. If your running 1 wing and the cars pushing your setup is dead wrong. Go back to number two and loosen up the front bar and springs to get more grip and more rear rotation. You could also be just turning in too soon. Based on your info that is probably what you are doing wrong.
As for your gearbox, tighten up third to sixth gear and then loosen 6th one click to achieve max rpm at the end of the back straight.
You need to find the perfect turn in spot for each corner and landmark it. End of a rumble strip, a sign, or something and turn in there every lap every corner. The only time you will go off line is to pass or harrass lol.
For pitstops in your garage you can choose up to three or none. There is provisions of what to do in there somewhere but I can't remember where it is. You tell it no fuel or how much fuel or tires or not. I think maybe when your car gets into the pit stall hit enter and a menu pops up.
Save your setup when your finished (save, load, make a favorite) so you have it each time you enter the track and fuel is an issue. Practice with maybe 4 gallons of gas. you will be quicker.

I'm maxed in 6th gear, well almost maxed got my gears from Greg.

I'm well aware of tracking ;) Been on the track a few times in the past couple of years I'm very smooth on the track... as a result slow hahahahaaha... actually i got faster this year down to about 2:29ish at bogie.

I am actually turning in too late from what I can tell, when I turn in sooner I'm faster. as am experiment I'll try turning in later tonight for fun but I was turning in getting shitty results and changed my turn in points to sooner and got much faster.

One thing that works in my favour I'm VERY consistent. I could run the exact same laptime over and over and over again for the most part, turn in point, braking point off the brake, change gear always at the same time, change up in gear same spot every single lap, lap after lap -- it becomes annoying actually when you want to get faster. I shift up and think damn, same exit speed same shift point as last time, obviously this lap isn't faster hahahaha.

I'll play with the setup a bit tonight if I get a chance. I'm probably faster on Mosport than any other track because I was there and like I said Glen told me where to turn in. Last year when I played the game I was a mess in 5B now much much better, and corner 2 as well -- damn she's scary even in the game!

don't forget also Mosport is my home track. I've probably done a few thousand laps there. Greg too so naturally we're going to be quick. Doesn't matter though, you can be quick one lap and then stuff it the next. Consistency pays. This I know because thats what I drive like too.
I'm shooting for a 2.22 with my subaru at Calabogie for next year. Lots of work to do though. In stock form the car is a real pig. Going from the Vette was like going from a Ferrari to a volkswagon.

just tested it out. v4 works fine and so does the internet connection - even hosting  Just ran a few laps, but it seemed to be stable.
I hope some more slower drivers join in tomorrow. :geek:

Thanks Pat.

Changed my caster and a little toe and BOOM 1:28-- first lap! Then I figured out corner 10 FINALLY I kept turning too tight, still a little struggle with corner 3 I know how to do it but only can get it perfect once in a blue moon. Got myself down to 1:27.7

A few times I had split times that hinted at 27 flats or 27 5's but I couldn't complete the lap.

I run with wing at 1 at 2 the car is definitely more stable and you can be much more aggressive on the throttle on corner exit, also you can save slides. With the wing at 1 it is almost impossible to save a slide. But I'm .2 seconds slower (consistently) with wing set at 2 than 1.

Sounds like a quali setup and race setup.

It does. save save save. Thats what I like about GTR2. The cars respond well to setup which is IMO a real hobby of mine in racing. Lot of guys don't care for it. Most of the RFactor mods are not designed with the garage in mind. The SFR mod we run now has no garage response at all. Cheap mods.

OK I am in for tonights racing at Mosport. What time are we starting the first practice and qualifying around 8:00 ?

Are we going to run more than 1 race or 1 long race with pit stops to make it interesting?

Pat suggested some short races. Although I like the long races it gives time for fast guys to mess up and slow guys to catch up. 100 laps is a good number... hehe j/k

First Qualifying at 8:00. Practice at 7:00.

I'd suggest a couple sprints to start at least. Trouble with long races is you spend a lot of time driving on your own when you are running with a small informal group. I'm all for trying a longer one if you like. We can up the rate of fuel usage to require a pitstop during a longer race if you like.

Yeah it really depends on how many cars are on the track. Add a few retarded AI cars?

I tried a race of 32 AI cars, what a mess! Nearly everytime I came over the crest at corner 2 one of them would be spun out and every other car would STOP to avoid it. If that didn't happen they would be on the grass I could be coming down the hill, get off the gas and start to try to avoid and the stupid AI would careen right into my path! ARGH!

It doesnt really matter to me. I just did some testing and tuning with the Miata this morning and got it down to a respectable 1:29.638. That is running 1 for spoiler and front splitter. I know there is more time in this thing. I just have to be able to keep my foot planted in 8 to drop another second or so.

I will see you guys tonite at 7:30 or so.

Yeah in 8, just hold a tight line and keep her planted.

Although sometimes it just turns into a mess.

No password required. We'll see if some lobby surfers want to join us. If we get some idiots on the game, we'll restart the server with "mco" as the password.

The server is up now in the internet lobby.

Game name: "MCO MX-5 Cup Mosport 3.1"

I recommend testing your ability to connect as early as possible. Post issues here.

My bad, didn't realize it had to be an annonymous server.

I set another one up but my stupid firewall is messing up... next time I'll have that right I'll just change the server I setup (which unfortunately right now is at work).

I don't think so James. Paul Swinwood has a key but if you don't need it any more swing by with it. JP needs one for the Augusta event.
