Temperature Resistant Rubber?

Postby Ian » Mon Apr 27, 2009 9:04 pm

I'm looking for something to put between my exhaust and trailer hitch. The requirements are that it not be too thick (1/16" to 1/8" maybe?) and that it provide a bit of cushioning.

Any ideas?

Buy a cheap universal exhaust hanger from CTC and cut the conveyor belt type rubber off the brackets. Its about 2 inches long, about an inch wide and is plenty thick and quite heat resistant. Cost about 2 bucks.

Or take it to a shop with a big ass torch and have them heat the pipe up a bit and bend it away from the hitch so it is fixed properly once and for all! :D

I'll try the exhaust hanger idea.

It's a titanium exhaust so I'm not sure how much it can be heated up and bent? Regardless the clearance is minimal so I couldn't bend it out of the way too far. The problem will be solved once the car goes on a trailer instead of pulling one :)
