I took this week off work. After gathering supplies last weekend, getting scaffolding, etc, we worked for 5 days straight to 'pre-wire' the garage for inspection. This place has more wire than most people's homes - and it's only got 1 room! Wow. What a job, also the brutal job of fixing the stupid panel that first electrician left us. In a fairly cramped spot on the wall, the guy mounted the panel sideways of all directions possible... It would have made it nearly impossible to route 1/2 the wires around the panel to the far side. Class act I tell you.
At least I had a good friend from Toronto come up who is an electrician and help me out for the last two days. Turned out great I think. He wasn't 100% happy with his work - knowing that he could have made it look better, but given the circumstances, I think it's pretty snappy. Had to get a splitter panel, 2m of 3/3 wire to relocate the panel properly, and a lot of cursing today trying to bend 3ga wire around the tight confines in the boxes in the cold today. Now that it's almost all done, I think we did pretty good. I have one more 120V outlet to put in once we figure out where the projector for the TV goes, then we'll do the last of the low voltage stuff and then all the wiring it pretty much done. Get the pre-wire inspection done early next week. Maybe even start picking away at some of the insulation this weekend... now if the garage doors were only on, then at least we could make it comfortable inside. They should finally get put up next week - there was a little bit of a bumble when they managed to ship the wrong style of door. Oh well, the builder made good on it, and it's getting done. I think by the end of next weekend, I may have the insulation mostly complete... then I can at least get the plumber back in to commission the boiler and then we can make the place comfortable and finish the last of the work that we're going to do on the garage this year... then I'll pickup with drywalling the place in the spring. As the cars are going in to storage shortly, I think I'm going to run out of time to get the place drywalled. Oh well. Wait until spring and move out all the cars, and then get the drywall completed.

When putting my racecar back together after working on it, it's always lighter - for some reason I always have parts leftover on the workbench.
