OK, you asked for more lapping days and we figured it out that one in September was the right one to add. Registration is up. Get them in. There's already a bunch.

Although I understand the sentiment, that's kind of weaseley. The club assumes a fair degree of financial risk to provide track time, and if we want to continue being able to access such a fantastic venue at a "realtively" affordable price I think we need to commit regardless of weather. Otherwise the club may decide track days are not financially viable, and we all lose out.

CMP in the rain isn't necessarily a bad thing. Slower, to be sure, but a terrific opportunity to work on your lines at a "safer" speed, provided you use good judgment.

The only thing I don't like about it being wet is that I have to run with the top up. Other than that, the lower fuel, tire, and brake consumption can be seen as positives. Still, I hope for dry. :)

I bit the bullit and signed up. It looks like it will be a perfect day, sunny and 19.

One question. On the sign up page at Karelo it says you need to complete the tech form, but on the tech form it says that you have to complete it for the first event of the season. So do i need to go get done again?

See you out there.

sweet dave!

You only have to complete it once a year, so you're good to go!

On a side note, i figured out why my CEL kept coming on: my spark plug pockets on the rear two cylinders were full of water from my lake excursion at autoX chase event, which was probably what was causing the misfires. I dried them out, pulled & cleaned all the plugs, and checked compression. Good news is 5/6 cylinders are in the 190-210 range, bad news is one is at 150... looks like i'll be pulling the head this winter :S

Thanks James.

I don't think the low compression is due to the water, but at least the misfire problem was resolved. It's the first time I ever do a compression test on my car, so I'm not sure how "new" this issue is. I'll run it as is until the end of the season, then look into rebuilding the top end. Apparently it's not as big a job as I thought, but we'll see...

Compression issue is definitely pre-existing.

If you take in water the engine stops dead (it's not compressible). Sometimes the stop is catastrophic, some times not. Depends a lot on the engine.

I have evidence in my hand that supports when an engine ingests enough water in cylinder number one to stop the engine dead in a Volkswagen 1.8T motor that the connecting rod is sacrificed.

Back on topic though, should be a great day Monday. I look forward to a new wet behind the ears student...

It makes a nice paperweight, conversation starter, and when the need arises, clue stick.

lmao.. you guys are hilarious.

no water got in the engine me thinks :)... because it's only one cylinder, I'm thinking it might be a bad valve, and not the head gasket... Also, I realized now that I did the compression test wrong and forgot to hold the throttle wide open :S I was consistent for all the cylinders though so i'm assuming it shouldn't affect the variance between the cylinders.

Yan - Nick is telling me you bought a race-prepped camaro? Is that what we'll be seeing monday?!?!
