Final MCO 2021 Championship Results
Prepared Class
Todd Bontes matching shirt and car chased Aaron Zanger and “Darkness” all year long and even managed to edge Aaron out in Round 5 for first place, but Darkness did everything Aaron wanted it to do this year, and Aaron came out on top taking first place, with Todd taking second. Mark Chamie rounds out the top 3 by taking first place in R7 and R8 to gather enough points to take 3rd place.
- 1st Place – Aaron Zanger
- 2nd Place – Todd Bontes
- 3rd Place – Mark Chamie
A Class
Omar Elgazzar showed that even big cars can podium as he drove his BMW 3 series to several podiums throughout the season to take 3rd place. Steven Fong not only supplied the overall champion with the wheels, but even managed to keep up with his co-driver to take 2nd place in A class, while Kevin Schenk showed everyone how an S2000 can get it done and took the top spot in A Class.
- 1st Place – Kevin Schenk
- 2nd Place – Steven Fong
- 3rd Place – Omar Elgazzar
B Class
Well, it turns out you can actually podium in B Class without having a Miata, but it probably has more to do with just showing up to all of the events as Autocross Director. Yours truly started the season out in a “new to me” Cobalt SS, but switched over to his mighty MINI GP to start pulling in some podium finishes and securing 3rd place in B Class (Yay for me!). In the end, the Miatas ruled the day, and even though “El Presidente” Colin Wolfson managed to catch lyme disease partway through the season, he still managed to show up to enough events AND podium to pull in a 2nd place finish. But it was Remy Guevin in his BRG that managed to steer his way to a 1st place finish in B Class.
- 1st Place – Remy Guervin
- 2nd Place – Colin Wolfson
- 3rd Place – Scott Mahon
C Class
This one was the battle of the Autocross Organizing Team as the top 5 spots in this class were held by Timing and Clerk team members!
In the end, it was Robert Bellemare who pulled in 3rd place in his BMW 135. Meanwhile, the battle of the Miatas happened again, and between two of our Course Clerks no less! Cameron Wood took down 2nd place, a mere 26 points behind the C Class champion, Mike “Lanark” Adamovits!
Honourable mentions go to Sean Duggan and Mike Cote, both Timing Team members, for taking 4th and 5th.
- 1st Place – Mike Adamovits
- 2nd Place – Cameron Wood
- 3rd Place – Robert Bellemare
D Class
The ever competitive D Class was interesting to watch every round as you never knew who was going to end up on the podium this season. But it was Marc-Frederick Tremblay who managed to take 3rd place, while Teddy Defazio, another Timing Team member took 2nd, and Nathaniel Lalonde who ended up with the most podiums to take 1st place is this very tough class.
- 1st Place – Nathaniel Lalonde
- 2nd Place – Teddy Defazio
- 3rd Place – Marc-Frederick Tremblay
E Class
This season was full of newcomers and surprises with this class, as youngster Conner Cose showed us he’s one to watch out for as he took 3rd place in his first season with MCO. Another surprise was our 2nd place finish, Heather Ryerse, who stayed consistent in her automatic (that’s right!) Honda Civic and racked up enough points to get her the podium finish she deserved. Finally, it was Tayler Clarke who was also consistent in his Mazda 3 to take down the top spot in this class.
More honourable mentions for this class was an MCO familiar face, Bruce Fortier who had to switch over to his Mazda 3 due to some technical issues with his Miata, and pulled off THREE first place finishes in a row at the last Lot 9 events. And then there was Connor’s Dad Robert von Microys who also did very well. We definitely know where Connor is getting his driving tips from.
- 1st Place – Tayler Clarke
- 2nd Place – Heather Ryerse
- 3rd Place – Connor Cose
And that’s it folks! I’d like to thank all our sponsors again for their support, and I hope to see you all out this weekend for the Fun Run and Season Ender Pizza Party! Make sure to register if you are coming out to either part of this event!
